Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering

Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering (ASE) is a program for high school age student interested in the fields of science or engineering. Students wishing to become a part of ASE must fill out an application, then participate in an interview. Successful students are chosen by mentors. The students then continue to on-site work with mentors from businesses, industries, universities, and government agencies. Work is full-time for eight weeks through-out the summer. Students also participate in two group learning events: the Midsummer Conference and the Summer Symposium. Students recieve hands-on experience working in fields they enjoy, and also gain valuable interivew, work, and technology skills. Students also receive a $1,400 apprentice stipend.

Example Mentors: Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, Pacific Power, US Department of Energy, Southern Oregon University, Oregon Regional Primate Research Center, Synopsys Inc, and much more!
