Surveys taken during sunny or bright exterior conditions concluded that the lobby and stairway are too dark for most museum goes. Likewise, when asked for impressions of the second floor lobby area and the Chinese Gallery, responses determined that the Gallery was too dark for the bright space adjacent to it. |

Results from this category were very similar to those of the preceding section. Variations in exterior lighting conditions do not appear to affect the interpretations of interior comfort of the space. |

Even when the exterior lighting conditions are darker, the lobby space is still considered to be too dark. The main difference in results collected at this time can be noted in the second floor area. Responses conclude that the transition between the Chinese Gallery to the stair hall 2 is less dramatic than during extremely bright times. |
