Skills for Success

Skills for Success is a multi-component middle school violence prevention program. The components of the Skills for Success model include (a) Effective Behavior Support (EBS) and the Second Steps Violence Prevention Curriculum as the universal whole school components, (b) Skills for Success universal screening procedures to identify students at-risk or high risk for antisocial behavior, and (c) Skills for Success “school within a school” alternative education program for individual students.

During the 2002-03 school year, the IVDB Hamilton Fish project will continue to develop, refine, and evaluate the efficacy of the Skills for Success program at both middle school and high school levels.

Skills for Success II is a comprehensive dropout prevention program at several Oregon high schools with high dropout rates. The program includes school-wide violence prevention programming and training, social skills training, academic support, service learning, service coordination, and evaluation and assessment of numerous factors, including student behavior, and school climate and policies.
