Friday, October 08, 2004 Horse ornament found in Roman military camp excavation near Zagreb ( 10:33 AM ) Libitina Independent Online: "An ornament for horses dating back to the 1st century A.D. has been found during excavations of a Roman Empire-era military camp near the southern Croatian city of Drnis, local media reports said on Friday. Thursday, October 07, 2004 Carneddau ponies ( 8:40 AM ) Libitina ic Wales: "THE origins of the Carneddau ponies are lost in the mists of time, but researcher Debbie Wareham thinks their ancestors could have been around before the Roman invasion of Britain. The horses used by the Romans in their subjugation of indigenous people in North Wales were inferior to the animals used by the local tribes which were acclimatised to the harsh winters.
