Welcome to our building construction information page. Please visit this site for news on our building projects and renovations of the music building.

Update February 2008

Construction continues on the new music additions with no major slowdowns, despite the difficult weather of the past weeks. Both floors of the administrative wing are closed for renovation, so travel between the north and south wings is currently under a covered walkway on the west side of the building. Renovation of the administrative wing will be more extensive than planned, with additional upgrades to floors, ceilings, and walls.

The reception office is located in the south wing of the music building in room 115. Janet Stewart and Laura Littlejohn have offices in Beall Hall Lobby. All phones and email addresses remain the same for all faculty and staff.

Most administrative staff and faculty who previously occupied the administrative wing are now housed at 818 East 15th in the "Alder building" at the corner of Alder Street and 15th Avenue. The entrance is under a portico at the southeast corner of the building, off the driveway. One way to find this back entrance is to follow the east-west sidewalk between the old education building and the Greek houses that front onto 15th.  The front door is "exit only."

The driveway at the Alder building is service vehicle parking only, and is a tow/ticket area for anyone else parking there. Although the contractors have finished the exterior insulation and siding replacement, electrical and interior upgrades continue and painting will begin when the weather improves. Most windows are now operational, and the landscaping has been finished.

The College of Education building project continues, creating further challenges for accessing buildings and parking lots on the southwest side of campus. A temporary gravel parking lot is in use between the music building and the library.

Be aware that there are three major events happening on and around campus in late June and July, 2008 -- the Oregon Bach Festival, the Olympic Trials, and the Eugene 08 Festival (ongoing campus events supporting the Olympic Trials). We can expect major problems in accessing campus, and parking will be particularly difficult.  Local hotels report that they are doing a brisk business in renting their rooms for this busy time, so plan for more than the usual congestion.
