About GK12: I taught the second grade “Sandy Beach” curriculum in the Coos Bay schools. I enjoyed teaching about the sandy beach because the beaches here on the west coast are very dynamic throughout the seasons and offered a variety of opportunities for the children to learn about their local habitat. Second-graders are at a dynamic point in their life too: they are able to work together in groups and conduct experiments, but still enjoy dressing up and using their imagination to explore science. They are excited and that really made teaching science fun for me because it gave me a chance to rediscover all the curiosity and wonder that I had for science when I was really young.
