Research Interests: I am interested in the biotic and abiotic influences on the structure of salt marsh vegetation. In particular, my research focuses on the basis for differential distribution of various salt marsh species such as Carex lyngbyei, Salicornia virginica, Distichlis spicata, and Deschampsia caespitosa, as well as the implications of seed bank dynamics in marshes along an estuarine gradient.

Advisor: Dr. Richard Emlet

About GK-12: It is wonderful to be able to explore the marine system in a hands-on way with the younger kids. I find myself newly appreciative of the local habitats when I see them through the eyes of the students.
