| Waste diversion is an essential key to waste management. At the University of Oregon there are established reuse exchanges for office materials and furniture. For all other property, there is a departmental exchange where staff can sell or give away things they no longer need and likewise put the word out for things that would like to acquire that are used. Reuse saves money. Campus Recycling tracks replacement costs for things taken from these exchanges. This is considered cost avoidance in that the University saves money by reusing!! |
