AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Reference and Collections

As Documents Reference Librarian, I am responsible for administering the library's participation in the depository library programs of the U.S. Federal Government and the Government of Canada. I work in the library's Document Center, located on the first floor of the Knight Library, where I provide assistance to library users in accessing government information, business information, maps (and other cartographic material), and microforms.

As the library's subject specialist for political science and Canadian studies, I am responsible for managing and developing the library's collections for those fields of study. I provide reference assistance to students and faculty in the fields of political science and the study of Canada, and I am available to provide classroom instruction on the use of library and Internet resources, tours and orientation sessions in the library, or individual consultations on specific research projects. Interested faculty or students can contact me by e-mail or phone (6-1884) to arrange for course-related instruction or to schedule an appointment.

Instruction

In addition to the course-related instruction mentioned above, I have taught a number of workshops in the UO Library's IT Curriculum, mostly relating to web publishing. Included among the web publishing workshops I have taught are:

I have also taught a number of credit courses:

Professional Memberships

Personal

I live in Eugene with my wonderful wife of 20 years, Kathy, and two sons: Collin (age 18) and Trevor (age 15). I attend Valley Covenant Church in west Eugene. I am also a big baseball fan, and maintain a personal web site devoted to the sport. I also enjoy tinkering with computers, reading, and listening to music.
