Women's & Gender Studies annually hosts Currents in Gender Studies, a half-day seminar on a new work by an internationally recognized scholar. Past speakers have included Thomas Laquer, Chandra Mohanty, Ricki Solinger, and Alice Dreger.

A bit about our guest speaker: Laura Elisa Pérez is Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies and, Spanish and Portugese at UC Berkley. Her teaching and research are in contemporary US Latina and Latin American women's writing; Chicana/o literature and visual arts; and contemporary cultural theory.
