Developmental biologists at the University of Oregon are trying to unravel the mechanisms that regulate the differentiation of neurons and muscles. In particular, these scientists would like to understand how the specific properties of different kinds of cells are regulated. UO lab researchers study this question in zebrafish using a combination of anatomical, physiological, molecular, and genetic techniques.
