Natalie Logan ’08

Natalie Logan Transferred from: University of Southern California.

Hometown: San Jose, California.

Majors: Political Science and Economics.

Minor: Business.

On transferring: Here in Eugene, I can easily work, go to school, and have time to be with my friends. Plus, my father attended the UO and raised me as a Duck fan since I was born. It was a really easy transition, but the weather was the biggest change. I met with advisers, and they're good at looking at your academic history and knowing where you're going to fit.

Essential raingear: I love the rain! Most times I just tough it out with a good old Oregon hoodie sweatshirt. One of my favorite quotes is, "Those that say sunshine brings happiness have clearly never danced in the rain." I'm not sure who said it, but I live by it here!

Volunteering: I volunteered at Sacred Heart Medical Center last year; and I'm getting involved with Start Making a Reader Today (SMART). I love being around kids and it's nice to go to the schools and see how they're functioning.

Favorite classes: My political science classes. So far, my U.S. Congress class has been the best. The professors in the political science department are amazing. They are all very dedicated to giving their students a great learning experience and are always available to mentor and help you through.

Campus study spot: Starbucks. I know, it's cliché, but it's nice to have somewhere that doesn't feel like a classroom to study.

Favorite Eugene food find: The Vintage. It's a new restaurant downtown that's amazing! Not that many people really know about it yet, but I'm sure it's going to be around for a long time.

Guilty pleasure: Chocolate, specifically Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

Advice for incoming students: Ask for help; I call it the hardest easiest thing to do. There's tons of people who have been in the same situation as you, so seek advice.
