The "Pioneer" faces 13th Street and Johnson Hall. The bronze statue was created in 1919 by sculptor Alexander Phimister Proctor (1862-1950) to represent early settlers of the Oregon Country. The Pioneer is a man in buckskin carrying a musket and powder horn.
