BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Aksan received her B.A. in Quantitative Economics in 2004 from Tufts University and expects to receive her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in 2010. Prior to entering the Ph.D. program at UO, Aksan was employed as a research analyst at Medstat, a health care information company based in Boston, MA.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Aksan specializes in economic growth and development. Current research focuses on disease and development examining the role of intellectual property rights on disease burden and the roles of morbidity and mortality in economic development.

    TEACHING EXPERIENCE

    Aksan is currently a graduate teaching fellow at the University of Oregon and has independently taught Introduction to Econometrics (EC 421) and Principles of Macroeconomics (EC 202). She has also led discussion sections for Principles of Microeconomics and Principles of Macroeconomics, and she has conducted computer labs for the undergraduate econometrics sequence. Aksan looks forward to teaching Growth and Development at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
