Undergraduate Support Program

The University of Oregon admits annually a limited number of freshmen who show academic promise, even though their high school transcripts or SAT scores do not meet minimum admissions requirements.  These students participate in the required Undergraduate Support Program (USP).  USP is for first-year students only, and designed to provide academic support and resources to ensure a successful university experience.

USP students follow the Models for Academic Performance and Success (MAPS) curriculum for their first year.  MAPS fulfills several general-education requirements and provides an introduction to university studies. The curriculum initially grounds students in the foundations of humanities and social sciences, and progressively integrates coursework in other disciplines according to individual interest.

In addition, students receive frequent contact with a small team of support staff from three campus offices: Academic Learning Services, Academic Advising and the Office of Multicultural Academic Support.
