LEISURE TIME
When school’s out, about 4:00 P.M., academy students can take advantage of the summer’s long afternoons and eveningsoften to return to studios after the evening meal to work on projects. But there are other enticements: concerts and plays, both on campus and at Eugene’s Hult Center for the Performing Arts; sporting events and festivals; miles of bike and jogging paths; and numerous public parks. Students can paddle the Millrace in rented canoes or rent roller skates and bicycles. The UO’s extensive athletic facilitiesincluding running tracks, swimming pools, and various courtsare open to students. The fees for the use of the facilities are included in the price of the tuition.
Academy students live in a UO residence hall where men and women are housed on separate floors. In 2010, only double rooms will be available. Students may choose room only or room and board, with two meal plan options, an 80 or 95 point plan per week. Mature students may want to seek housing off campus.
