Reporting
Only the survivor of a sexual assault can determine whether reporting the assault is the best option for her/him. However, if you are a survivor of a sexual assault, you do have the right to report if you have been assaulted. You also have the right to seek assistance from an advocate: someone who can assist you in exploring your options, explain the reporting and investigation process, who can work with you throughout the entire course of reporting and who can be a person of support for you. You can contact the Office of Student Life or Sexual Assault Support Services for the assistance and support of an individual trained in the area of sexual violence.

The reporting process can feel confusing and overwhelming, but you do not have to go through it alone. An advocate can explain the process in detail and discuss with you what you might experience along the way. Your advocate can also accompany you throughout the entire investigation and any legal proceedings. Remember, you deserve support in any decision you make regarding whether or not to report your assault. It is your advocate’s job to support you!
