November 11 University Library Committee Meeting

• The minutes of the previous meeting were approved.
• Old Business
  • The chair reported that the recommendation of the ULC to add a representative of the University Library to the undergraduate council had been adopted by the rules committee. The motion goes to the full Senate Wednesday November 12 1997 for action.
  • The chair has transmitted a report of the ULC to Secretary Gwen Steigelman (email Gwen_Steigelman@ccmail.uoregon.edu ) of the University Senate regarding the "pay for print" policy of the Library.
  • The chair reported several members of the ULC had met with a candidate for the head of technical services and had written a report concerning the matter to University Librarian Shipman.
  • The committee discussed the materials budget and approved the increases.
• New Business
  • The IMC Mission statement was discussed by the ULC. Member Nichols agreed to present a motion for the ULC to consider regarding classrooms at the next meeting November 18.
  • The ULC heard a presenation from D. Carver concerning the monograph and serial allocation. The Library has $17620 to allocate for new monographs and $10008 to allocate for new serials. The ULC will discuss the matter further at its next meeting
