The following items will be included in the business of the first meeting
of the University Assembly for the academic year 1996-97.
I. Approval of the minutes of the June 5, 1996 Assembly meeting. These
minutes have been distributed. The Secretary has not received any notice
of corrections. If no corrects are forthcoming the minutes stand to be
approved as distributed.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
II. A reception for all faculty will be held in Collier House immediately
following this meeting.
III. Annual report of the Faculty Personnel Committee. The report will
be published with the minutes and will not be read.

MEMORIALS
IV. The Secretary has received the following memorials:
Professor Joyce Mitchell, Political Science, passed away on May 28, 1996.
Professor Mitchell joined the University of Oregon faculty in 1960. Her
memorial was submitted for publication with the minutes of this meeting
and will not be read.
Dr. Edna Plock Wooten former professor in the Department of
Physical Education and Human Movement Studies, passed away on July 16, 1996.
Professor Wooten's career at the University of Oregon spanned 26 years
from 1965 until her retirement in 1991. The memorial will be read by Louis
Osternig, Professor, Exercise & Movement Science.
INTRODUCTION OF NEW FACULTY
V. In accordance with University Faculty legislation the introduction
of new faculty is to take place at the first meeting of the University Assembly
each academic year.
Provost John Moseley will introduce each of the following who in turn
will introduce their new academic faculty members:
