Richard M. Steers specializes in organizational behavior and cross-cultural management with special interests in employee motivation and performance. He recently completed a comparative study of management and motivation techniques in Japan, Korea, and the U.S. He is co-author, with Yoo Keun Shin and Gerardo R. Ungson, of The Chaebol: Korea’s New Industrial Might (Harper and Row, 1989). A new study is currently investigating corporate strategy among Korea's major firms. Dr. Steers was the founder of the University of Oregon’s International Business Program, one of the key constituents of the Center for Asian and Pacific Studies.
