Plan of a 1929 butler's pantry

House Beautiful. 66:3 (September, 1929): 295.

A butler's pantry was not used by servants alone. In houses without domestic servants, butler's pantries provided valuable additional space for work and storage. In this butler's pantry, sinks for cleaning dishes, counter space for assembling food on a plate, and warming areas to keep hot food warm added to the functionality of the kitchen. Sometimes, as shown here, special space for storing more valuable pieces of silver provided additional safeguarding of valuables.
