The room shown here serves every possible food preservation need. The existing concrete block basement wall is used for two sides of the room. Insulated stud walls create the other two sides. Shallow shelves for canned goods are constructed along one side of the room. Shallow dampened sand-filled bins contain root crops while newspaper wrapped apples could be stored in stacking wooden crates. A barrel or milk can supplements the bins and crates. This room includes both insulated and screened doors to help successfully control the temperature and humidity of the space.
