Welcome to the home-on-the-web of Chuck Theobald.

Professional - In my professional guise, I am lucky to be working in a job I love. I am the Systems Adminstrator for the Robert and Beverly Lewis Center for Neuroimaging.

Interests - For the rest of it, I am following custom by posting resources and information on things that interest me. My interests are many and scattered, so it helps me to write them down so that I know what I am interested in at any given time. It is strange that interests may or may not be what I am doing regularly, and may include things I've done once and want to do again. Of course, this covers just about anything. I've heard it elsewhere, but I said it first: I'll try anything twice.

Learning & Self-Improvement

Motorcycle Safety Foundation If you're going to ride, you need to take the course. It *will* save your life some day.

Toastmasters
A great organization, Toastmasters International has helped me immensely in learning how to speak before an audience.

Now to the stuff that gives Meaning to Life

Cool People

Bikes My rides include:

Burning Man!

Our Garden

Poems Yeah, I used to write poetry. Maybe again someday. Here is a selection of my older work.

Stone Points Here are some pics of a few stone points I made. High tech ain't the only tech.

Web Technology Stuff

Perl is the language of the gods. It brought us ease of use, easy access to regular expressions, rapid application development, and got rid of that silly need for variable declarations.

PHP is a totally cool and easy way to create dynamic web pages as well as to gain access to your favorite database-resident information. See My StarCat for an example of my use of PHP in everyday life. I also use it on the Community Village web site.

CSS Another up-and-coming web technology, the spec has been around for years. As is usual in a marketing-driven (as opposed to market-driven) development world, support for it in your favorite browser is probably sketchy, though things are improving.
