Reference

n     Provide in-person, email and chat reference assistance using print and electronic resources.

n     Provide in-depth individual research assistance to faculty and students in Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnic Studies and the Honors College.

n     Maintain extensive up-to-date awareness of print and electronic reference works in humanities and social sciences.

n     Supervise and train reference desk student assistants.

 

Collection Development

n     Manage funds and select materials for Sociology, Anthropology and Ethnic Studies.

n     Work with Head of Collection Development to explore new databases, electronic resources and major purchases in these fields.

n     Communicate with Sociology, Anthropology and Ethnic Studies Departments faculty and students regarding collection development and purchasing decisions.

 

Instruction

n     Plan and teach course-integrated instruction sessions to students in the Honors College, and the Sociology, Anthropology and Ethnic Studies Departments.

n     Create and manage webpages, including subject guides, web use guides and other specialized research guides.

n     Act as liaison with teaching faculty in Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnic Studies and the Honors College, collaborating on library instruction and helping maintain current awareness of internal and external research tools.

 

Digital Initiatives

n     Institutional Repository Steering Committee (2005-present)

n     Provide oversight of Library’s institutional repository, the Scholars’ Bank, including development of policies and resources.

n     Outreach to Sociology, Anthropology and Ethnic Studies Departments, Honors College and other campus programs to build collections in the Scholars’ Bank.

n     Digital Content Coordinators Group (2006-present)

n     Develop and implement digital preservation strategy for the Library.

n     Identify and assess digital collections in library.

n     Website Redesign Initiative (2005-present)

n     Design new library website.

n     Create guidelines and documentation for future webpage design.

n     Virtual Reference Team (September 2004-present

n     Develop and implement instant message service for Sociology, Anthropology, Ethnic Studies and Honors College students, faculty and staff.

n     Develop and implement library-wide instant message reference service for University or Oregon.

n     Provide online chat reference service to Oregon residents through statewide L-Net project.
