Archaeology students are accepted from a broad range of backgrounds. The only prerequisites are a serious interest in archaeology and a some level of personal preparation involving classes, basic reading in archaeological field methods, or previous participation in an organized archaeological project supervised by a professional archaeologist such as a Passport in Time (PIT) project. In some cases, equivalent field experience may be accepted in place of the prerequisite course work. Applicants without prerequisite courses should provide a description of their experience. All applicants should provide a one-page statement of their interest and experience in archaeology.
Enrollment is limited. Students accepted into the field school have fifteen days after the date of their acceptance letter to confirm their place by sending a $100 deposit that is applied toward the course fee. Places not confirmed in timely fashion are offered to applicants on the waiting list according to level of qualifications and priority of application.
