General Science Program
Class of 2002-2003

This year the departmental ceremonies will take place at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14th, in the Paul Om Atrium in Willamette Hall (right outside of the gen sci office). We encourage graduates to arrive by 10:00 a.m. in order to check-in and fill out information.  The General Science (GS) program, Physics, and Geological Science Departments combine ceremonies which results in a larger crowd and increases the festive atmosphere of the occasion.

The main University of Oregon ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. at MacArthur Court.  This is a huge event, with speakers and award presentations.  Those graduating with Bachelor degrees are recognized by being asked to stand up in groups but do not walk in this ceremony.  At the departmental ceremony, graduates walk and are individually recognized.

Applying to Graduate

For those who are visiting this page who have not yet applied to graduate please be aware that:

"Student's who plan to receive a bachelor's degree from the UO must file an application in the Office of the Registrar by the second week of classes in the term preceding the term of anticipated graduation.  Advance notice to the Office of the Registrar of the intent to graduate permits timely review of degree requirements and notification of deficiencies in general-education requirements (and major requirements), allowing students to plan or change their final term's course schedule to ensure completion of all requirements.  All grade changes, removals of incompletes, and transfer work necessary for completion of degree requirements must be on file in the Office of the Registrar by Friday following the end of the term of graduation.  Corrections of the academic record are made only during the thirty days following the granting of the degree (University of Oregon Catalog, 2002-2003, pg 17)".

Application deadlines can also be found in the front section of the current term's schedule of classes under "Academic Calendar and Deadlines".
