Academic Principles and Standards
Beta Theta Pi has a
long tradition of excellence in academics. Over a decade ago, it was Beta Theta
Pi that became the first fraternity ever to set a standard minimum grade point
average in order to be eligible for membership. Today, the Beta Rho chapter of
Beta Theta Pi requires a minimum 2.75 GPA to be initiated as a new member. We
feel that having a higher GPA requirement than other fraternities helps us to
uphold a stronger brotherhood, and maintain a focus in academics.
- Beta Rho holds the highest fraternal standard on campus for continued, active membership: 2.9 GPA.
- Consistent academic performance is required to hold any position, from president to kitchen manager.
- Incentives for outstanding scholarship include house points, financial rewards, and gifts (such as pins, rings, ties, etc.) for those who perform year-round.
- A diverse mix of majors within our Chapter offers a unique opportunity for new and old members to draw on the knowledge when help is needed (i.e. editing an English paper, help with business homework, etc.).
At
Beta Rho, we acknowledge the precedence of academic responsibilities with
optimism. Our unofficial motto:
