Graduate Admission Procedures
Space within laboratories and financial support vary greatly from year to year. Consequently, it is mandatory that applicants contact the HPHY faculty member within the interested area of study BEFORE submitting an application. Communication with faculty allows applicants to discuss goals, interests, financial support, and space availability. Contact information can be found under ‘people’ on this website. Submitted applications require the following:
- Online Graduate Application for Admission accompanied by $50 non-refundable filing fee (submitted online using valid VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER card or check). *
- Official transcript of prior academic work including degrees attained. *
- Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
- Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- Candidate’s Statement: Typewritten statement of up to 500 words indicating goals, objectives for pursuing the graduate degree, background, and interests as they relate to the department’s central focus and specific faculty interests.
- At least two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to the applicant’s potential for masters or doctoral study.
