Susan Verscheure is a Canadian transplant from Ontario, Canada. Her interests in sports medicine began at York University in Toronto, Canada, where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a certificate in sports therapy. Before arriving at the University of Oregon, she became dually certified by the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Susan’s graduate research experiences focused on issues specific to the athletic woman, including a biomechanical assessment of different sports bra designs, and the effect of estrogen fluctuation on the anterior cruciate ligament in the knee. During her graduate career, Susan developed a passion for teaching and has focused on creating a non-traditional classroom teaching environment, utilizing active and collaborative learning as a base. In 2008 Susan received the Ersted Award for Distinguished Teaching which recognizes excellence in teaching by faculty members at the University of Oregon early in their teaching careers.
As the human anatomy instructor, she uses problem-solving and case study techniques to emphasize the clinical and practical application of the subject matter. As program director of the NATA-accredited graduate athletic training program, Susan supports her student’s interests in clinical advancement, teaching, and research.
