Undergraduate Minor in Human Physiology
The minor is designed for students who are majoring in biology, general science, or chemistry, although it is possible for any major if prerequisite requirements are met. The minor requires 28 upper-division credits, which must be taken for letter grades; 20 of these credits must be completed at the University of Oregon.
Minor Requirements (28 credits)
- Human Anatomy I, II (ANAT 311, 312) and Labs (ANAT 314, 315)
- Human Physiology I,II (HPHY 313, 314) and Labs (HPHY 316, 317)
- Two additional courses from the following:
- Motor Control (HPHY 333)
- Tissue Injury and Healing (HPHY 362)
- Physiology of Exercise (HPHY 371)
- Biomechanics (HPHY 381)
Note: Some HPHY 400 level courses may also meet the requirement. Please check with the faculty advisor for additional information.
Minor Options for Human Physiology Majors
Minors are available in both the biology and psychology departments.These minors are found to compliment a degree in Human Physiology and are often completed by students in the major. Please review the current U of O General Catalog for up to date information.
A Minor in Biology
Students completing the minor program in biology are required to provide the department office with a copy of a transcript showing any transferred courses being applied to the minor. The requirements for a minor in biology are as follows:
- Requires at least 24 biology credits, of which 16 must be upper division.
- Sixteen of the 24 biology credits must be taken in residence at the University of Oregon.
- The minor is designed by the student with the consultation of advisers in undergraduate biology advising center.
- All courses applied toward the minor must be passed with grades of C- or better.
Only a limited number of credits earned in generic courses (e.g, BI 401, 407, 410) may be used to meet minor requirements. Departmental approval must be obtained to include such credits in the minor.

A Minor in Psychology
The Department of Psychology offers a Psychology Minor with two options: a psychology or a psychology with cognitive science emphasis. All courses must be passed with grades of C- or better. Special Studies (Psy 199) does not count toward the minor. The Psychology option requires 28 credits in Psychology: The cognitive science option requires 37 - 41 credits, to be distributed as follows:
Psychology Option 28 credits
- Mind and Brain (Psy 201) and Mind and Society (Psy 202) or Introduction to Experimental Psychology (HC 211 and HC 212), 8 credits
- Statistical Methods in Psychology (Psy 302) and Research Methods in Psychology (Psy 303) or equivalents from other departments, 8 total credits
- Three (3) courses numbered 430 - 487, at least one course from Psy 430 - 450 and one course from Psy 451 - 478, 12 credits
At least 20 of the 28 credits must be graded and at least 20 must be upper division. At least 12 credits must be taken at the University of Oregon.
Cognitive Science Option 37 - 41 credits
- Any two (2) courses in Computer and Information Sciences, 8 total credits
- Introduction to Linguistics (Ling 290) or Elements of Linguistics (Ling 421), 8 credits
- Mind and Brain (Psy 201) and Mind and Society (Psy 202) or Introduction to Experimental Psychology (HC 211 and HC 212), 8 credits
- Statistical Methods in Psychology (Psy 302) and Research Methods in Psychology (Psy 303) or equivalents from other departments, 8 total credits
- Cognitive Science with Lab (Psy 430), 5 credits
- Brain Mechanisms of Behavior (Psy 445) or Human Neuropsychology (Psy 449), 4 credits
- One additional course from Psy 451 - 487, 4 credits
At least 20 of the 37 - 41 credits must be graded and at least 20 must be upper division. At least 12 credits must be taken at the University of Oregon.
To apply for a minor, stop by the Psychology Main Office, 131 Straub, to fill out a Change of Major/Minor form. Please bring with you a copy of your latest University of Oregon transcript and copies of your Advanced Standing and Supplementary Reports (transfer work). The Office of the Registrar does not provide copies of your academic records to minor departments.
Minor in Business
Minor Requirements
The Lundquist College of Business (LCB) offers a minor in business administration. The business minor consists of six courses, requires no prerequisite knowledge, and can be completed in one academic year.
BADM Minor:
The business minor consists of six courses within the Department of Business Administration.

- BA215 - Accounting: The Language of Business Decisions
- BA315 - Economy, Industry, and Competitive Analysis
- BA316 - Management: Creating Value Through People
- BA317 - Marketing: Creating Value For Customers
- BA318 - Finance: Creating Value Through Capital
Sequence:
- BA 101 is required prior to enrolling in the other minor courses.
- BA 215 is a pre-requisite to BA 318.
Notes:
- BA452/453 and all departmental 406 and 409 courses are not open to business minors.
- Economics majors and pre-business students who have switched to the minor are encouraged to contact a business advisor in 145 Lillis regarding additional options within the minor.
- Faculty members at the Lundquist College of Business recently voted to eliminate the Path 2 minor beginning Fall 2003. Students accepted into Path 2 prior to Fall 2003 will still be allowed to complete that path before they graduate, with no changes. Path 1, the six courses outlined above, remains the same and requires fewer courses to earn the same minor (6 instead of 9).
