You can be part of our public outreach efforts by supporting our weekly television broadcast, "UO Today," which airs in over 500,000 households throughout the state. A gift of $750-$1,000 keeps the show on the air for one week.
Public outreach is a primary part of the Humanities Center's mission. "UO Today," is a half-hour TV interview program which airs on public access cable television stations throughout the state of Oregon. This program provides citizens throughout the state--many of whom are unable to come to campus to attend these public programs in person--with an informative and entertaining glimpse into some of the many fascinating people and events taking place on campus.
Humanities Center director Barbara Altmann talks with UO professors and visiting scholars about their research and areas of interest. Whenever possible, the Center also airs taped lectures by the visiting scholars immediately following their interviews.
The Humanities Center does not currently receive any direct support from the University or from private donors towards the production of "UO Today," and it costs the Center approximately $40,000 per year to produce the program. If you enjoy this program and would like to see it stay on the air, please consider giving a gift to support "UO Today."
