OPHS Temporary Business Hours
Dear Research Community,
Did you know that protocol submissions have increased by 10% every year for the past five fiscal years, from 913 to 1234 in FY2008? We are pleased that this increase is a result of your good research work, and the growing UO investigative community.
Although the Office for Protection of Human Subjects (OPHS) has added staff to try to keep up with your research successes, we've had no time to put into place the systems, standard operating procedures, and other infrastructure that would streamline reviews, approval turn around and other response times for your protocols.
We are therefore conducting an “experiment” of our own and will be dedicating Fridays to building our infrastructure, creating standardized review processes, and updating our forms to be more effective for your use. As a result, email and phone calls to our Program Analystson Fridays will be acknowledged the following Monday. You are still welcome to drop off protocol materials any day of the week. Should you have an emergency regarding your currently approved research (e.g. an adverse event) please contact our main office at (541) 346-2510 and we will ensure immediate OPHS response.
Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to bringing you an even better experience with OPHS.
Sincerely,
Juliana Kyrk,
Director, Office for Protection of Human Subjects
