On Saturday 9 May 2007 the IFS passed the following motion concerning HB2823: Background. HB2823 gives the OUS Institutions authority to "award an honorary post-secondary degre to a person, or on behalf of a deceased person, who: (a) Was a student at the state institution of higher education in 1942; and (b) Did not graduate from the institution because the person was ordered to an internment camp."

The passage of enabling legislation by the Faculty Senates of the various institutions is required to establish methods and procedures to implement th is bill. The University of Oregon has passed such legislation US06/07-15.
