- Not since the Stone Age has our most powerful and
useful tools fit so nicely in the palm of our hands. In small groups we
will rigorously investigate, decipher and engage the many aspects of the
electronic handheld. We will appropriate product design methodology to
develop our own handheld art devices that address cultural aspects these
electronic products. Due week five.
- Individual projects that students can start at
anytime, either building on ideas that come out of the group project or
ideas related a studentÕs on going practice.
- On a random day during the term I will give each
group a kit of equipment that the group has to use to create an
interactive installation. Once given the kit the group will have a week to
complete the assignment.
- Each student is responsible to present one
consumer product mash-up. The idea is to respond cultural product niche by
altering or mixing multiple products to make viewers reassess the product.
This act of dˇnouement does not necessarily need to be electronic or
interactive. Students can choose the day of presentation.
In addition to these
assignments students will be expected to participate in reading discussions and
the classes wiki about Physical Computing and Device Art.
