I think JQ's "NOTES" are excellent.
A couple of questions maybe someone can answer? ......
The original intent of e-Asia was to use Apache webserver for windows. It
is "beta" -- but I have 2 reasons for liking Apache:
1) An Apache beta is probably better than most severs in their production
version. A name you can trust.
2) For all practical purposes, the Apache, windows version, doesn't differ
much from the Linux version; this means that for those of us who are
inherently lazy and computer-challenged, it's possible to switch-hit. I've
never dealt with Microsoft IIS but would really be interested to know if it
is as good as the reviews indicate. If it really is that good, its
integration into the rest of the Microsoft suite is probably unbeatable. On
the other hand, Apache is familiar and comfy, and with so many other things
boiling in the pot, a friendly server is a welcome server. Any IIS
pointers/comments???
I really like PHP, but I think it is in "grow mode" with a bright future.
ColdFusion is, as JQ indicates, mature -- which makes my paranoia about
security issues less burdensome. I have no doubt that campus will go the
PHP direction, and don't really disagree; except *not* for me at this time.
The only thing that excites me is something that is non-exciting. The Linux
version of ColdFusion might be a nicely unexciting option.
