Re: diglib: DRAFT--survey of digitizing projects PLEASE RESPOND

Normandy:

Looks good to me. You might want to specify
a date for returning the responses in order to
ensure that we have this input by 3/14--DigLib's
first meeting in March.

Thanks, Mark

Subject: diglib: DRAFT--survey of digitizing projects PLEASE RESPOND

DigLib,

how does this look?

nsh

To all library staff:

The Digital Library Group is discussing the acquisition of a data storage
"vault" for locally produced digital collections. In order to accurately
assess the current and immediate-future storage needs for our digital work,
it is essential that we are up to date on all current digital activities
within the library.

In short, if you don't take this opportunity to declare your storage needs,
we may not have space available for your project! So please speak up now.

If you are involved with creation of a local digital collection, please
respond to me with the following information:

1. What do you call the project?

2. Brief description of project (three sentences max):

3. How many gigabytes of data have you created to date? (Include source
material such as "master images"; exclude supporting stuff such as databases
and documentation)

4. In the next six months, how many gigabytes of data do you think you will
add to this project?

Information about the Digital Library Group is posted at
http://libweb.uoregon.edu/diglib/. Meetings are open and announcements will
be posted in the Staff Bulletin. Please feel free to join us.
