I believe that the legal responsibility DOES apply to print works, but
that there's a strong "reasonableness" test here.
An important note is that the ADA applies to all disabilities, not just
visual ones. I remember at my first job at Stanford having a student who
was alergic to paper; we had to take special steps -- mostly by providing
an assistant to handle the books he needed for him -- to make sure that he
had access to the appropriate resources (this was pre-ADA, but that didn't
mean we didn't try to help).
