Why own your own?

Why not use darkwing/gladstone?

familiar (Mac or PC) environment	no familiar Unix environment
more distinctive URL	external access to your server uses scarce network bandwidth to your building
doesn't depend on availability of CC systems	have to guarantee availability (issues include power, backup, staffing, etc.)
not at mercy of CC software changes	have to track software upgrades by yourself
possibly better performance	probably poorer latency; possibly poorer performance
easier publishing by owner	more difficult publishing by group
easer customization of security, MIME types, etc.	some server features may not be available (e.g. server-side includes)
easier integration with local databases	non-standard CGI environment
