Study Unit 2

Intermediate Word Analysis and Basic Phonetics

We continue our study of English words by

  • first, discussing reasons why morphemes sometimes change form; and
  • second, learning basic principles of English sounds (phonetics).

 

NOTE:  If you have not yet downloaded the recommended fonts from SIL Encore IPA Fonts, do so now.  If you don’t, you may not be able to accurately view much of the material in this unit.


Unit 2 Study Plan

  • Prepare flash cards or other study aids for Morpheme Set 2. Review morphemes daily while studying the following materials in the order listed. REMEMBER: our Morpheme Set 2 is not the same as the one in the text book.
  • Begin keeping a word journal for Written Assignment 2. Add to your journal regularly while studying the other materials.
