Assist with classroom instruction, student assignments and projects, presentation of class lessons, and tutorial help. Office hours 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Volunteer in a community day shelter providing assistance to the homeless. Tutor youth in childcare setting or assist with after-school programs for children. · Whiteaker Even Start. 687-3403. Work with preschoolers (0-4 years) and/or parents to help build literacy skills. Opportunities to work with Spanish or English speakers. · Womenspace Advocacy Center - Kidspace. Volunteer Coordinator: Nancy Hafner, 485-7262. Assist with childcare program in a women's shelter setting, create stories with youth in program, and/or help with public speaking in schools. Training required and offered at the beginning of term.
