BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Christina received her B.A. (with Honors) in Physics in 2001 from University of Chicago and received her Master's in Economics from the University of Oregon in 2005. She expects to receive her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in Winter 2009. Prior to entering the Ph.D. Program at UO, Steiger taught geography,science and mathematics at a private high school in Mount Shasta, California,and was employed as an IT manager for BancCorp USA in Chicago.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Steiger specializes in macroeconomics, growth and development and econometrics. Current research focuses on endogenous institutions in models of economic growth, and on the role of econometric learning in growth models.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As a graduate teaching fellow at the University of Oregon, Steiger has independently taught Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, Problems and Issues in Developing Economies, and Economic Growth/Development. She has served as a teaching assistant for : Principles of Macroeconomics, Contemporary Economic Issues, Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory, Introduction to Econometrics, Games and Decisions, and Multinational Corporations

OTHER INTERESTS

Steiger is fluent in French, has a basic understanding of Spanish, and has studied German and Italian. In addition to economics, she also enjoys reading, hiking, cooking and playing piano and violin.
