What is Creatine Monohydrate ?

Creatine Monohydrate is available in many forms such as powder, pill and tablet, liquid, and carbohydrate transport added powder.
Creatine (methylguanidine-acetic acid) is a natural occurring nitrogenous molecule (Fig. 1) that can be found in skeletal muscles and
meat products such as beef, fish, and poultry.  It has also been found in small amounts in the liver, kidney, and brain.  The name
creatine comes from the Greek word "kreas" which means flesh.

The human body is capable of naturally producing 1-2g/day of creatine.  Creatine is an amino acid synthesized (Fig. 2) from the amino acids gycine, arginine, and methionine which is metabolized in the liver, kidneys, and pancreas when dietary ingestion of creatine is not enough to meet bodily needs.  Creatine is then transported into muscles via the bloodstream.
