Rock, Water, Fire, Earth and Sky – Photographs of the Oregon West by David N. Jones opens Friday, Nov. 7
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Oct. 27, 2008) -- The newest exhibit in the Pacific Northwest Artist Series, "Rock, Water, Fire, Earth and Sky – Photographs of the Oregon West by David N. Jones," opens this month at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History. The public is invited to a free artist’s reception from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, at the museum, 1680 E. 15thAve.
The exhibit of 16 black and white images of landscapes from Oregon and the West represent Jones' style, which uses dramatic light to evoke the emotions, feelings and sensations experienced at the moment of exposure.

Items found at Sacred Heart’s RiverBend campus now on display
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Sept. 19, 2008) -- "Science in the News – The Stevens' Family Cemetery Exhibit," featuring remains discovered at the William M. Stevens' family cemetery, is now on display at the UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History, 1680 E. 15th Ave.
The exhibit includes coffin handles, clothing buttons, nails and screws unearthed during this summer’s excavation of the Stevens family cemetery. The Stevens are considered the first pioneering family to have settled in the Springfield area.

Landmark expansion needed to safeguard Oregon’s ancient treasures
"Every year we're learning more about Oregon’s rich history," Erlandson said, "and in the process more and more collections are generated. We have run out of secure space to accommodate these collections. Without this new facility, we would have been forced to stop accepting many important discoveries from federal and state lands in Oregon, a reversion to the 19th century when many Oregon artifacts and fossils were shipped off to museums in other states or countries."

UO archaeologists find forgotten remains, 12 graves and artifacts on land of pioneering family
EUGENE, Ore. -- (Aug. 26, 2008) -- The mysteries unearthed in May at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend have been solved-- mostly.
The University of Oregon's Museum of Natural and Cultural History conducted a small scale recovery excavation of 12 gravesites at Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend after a backhoe operator noticed what appeared to be a human bone in the soil.
