Millrace

The city of Eugene is known for its cultural vitality and inherent beauty. It is also noted for its mild year-round climate, with summers that are especially beautiful and pleasant. The Willamette River runs through the heart of Eugene and joins with the McKenzie River to the north of town. The city's topography features Skinner Butte to the north of downtown and to the south, the landmark Spencer Butte, now a 310-acre city park. In addition to the numerous boutiques, shops, and outdoor markets, there are 150 miles of cycling, jogging, or walking paths. From Eugene, it is only a short drive west to the state's stunning coastline with the largest stretch of coastal dunes in the country. East of Eugene, the Cascade Mountains offer opportunities for camping, fishing, and hiking. Several nearby lakes and rivers support sailing, water skiing, and white-water rafting.
