NSU Resource List

Here is a short list of resources available.  Some are on campus, others are not.  If you are looking for something and do not find it here, come by our office in the EMU basement room 20a and see if one of us can help.

For those of us with families there is a really great resource page at:   http://hr.uoregon.edu/workfamily/

There are many additional resources available through Student Life.

So here goes the short list:

Academic Learning Services

68 PLC

ALS is the most underutilized resource on campus.  They have a lot to offer nontrads, and even if you know what they offer, look through their site and see all they have.

Included here is a short list but there is much much more.

Math and Writing Labs

During the term they offer drop in writing assistance and drop in math tutoring for a wide variety of courses. These free labs are available to all University students. Both of these helpful services are located in the ALS suite of offices. Come to the front desk (68 PLC) for directions.

TRIO/McNair Scholars Program

·  The University's McNair Scholars Program is housed within Academic Learning Services. Here, all University of Oregon students, both undergraduate and graduate, may receive assistance with approaches to their academic work. The most comprehensive support is offered at no cost to eligible undergraduates through two TRIO programs, Student Support Services and McNair Scholars.

The Women's Center provides information, support, and services to facilitate education around issues of feminism, women and gender. It hopes to foster an atmosphere where students, staff, and faculty can engage in discussions and activities that empower women as individuals and as a community. Services include, but are not limited to; resource and referral, advocacy, events planning and coordination, support groups, a center newsletter, community outreach, and cultural events co-sponsored with other student organizations.

Things and Stuff

The next sites are off campus but you might find them useful.

Eugene Freecycle is a listserve where you can get free things and also give things away.   I recommend signing up to only get one e-mail per day with a list of everything that happened that day, otherwise it is a bit overwhelming.  This site is only for free things.  No bartering or borrowing, no money excanged.

Similarly there is Eugene Free Recycle.  It is very similar except they allow some bartering, trading and borrowing.

One of the Eugene Weekly sites is Eugene Weekly's Virtual Eugene Guide---Very Helpful!!!!!
a great place to find anything from train/plane/bus schedules, to maps, to where to eat.  Even if you know Eugene, it's worth looking at.  Have Fun!
