Editorial Needs:

Nonfiction. We are looking for smart, crisp essays on a range of subjects. Creative nonfiction, memoir, and literary essays are welcome. We do not read unsolicited reviews or interviews. Submissions of nonfiction will be read from October 15 through January 15. Nonfiction received outside of these dates will be returned unread. Submission response time is approximately four months.

Poetry and Fiction. NWR is currently not accepting submissions of poetry and fiction. Poems and stories will be returned unread.

Submission Guidelines:

* The only criterion for acceptance of material for publication in Northwest Review is that of excellence.
* No simultaneous submission will be considered.
* No email submissions will be accepted (except for writers living abroad).
* Send submissions and all correspondence to

      The Editors
      Northwest Review
      5243 University of Oregon
      Eugene, OR 97403-5243

* A self-addressed, stamped envelope must accompany each submission. Please be sure the envelope is spacious enough for return of your submission and has sufficient postage. If not, the submission will not be returned.
* There are no restrictions on length, style, or subject matter, though it is more difficult for us to publish long essays (8,000 words or more). Intelligent, well-crafted, lyrical essays of approximately 4,000 to 8,000 words are desired.
* We normally respond within twelve weeks. Potential contributors are urged to subscribe to any magazine they wish to appear in. Publications such as Northwest Review depend for their survival on subscribers.
* We encourage you to peruse a recent issue of Northwest Review. These are made available to authors at the discounted price of $4.00.
