Claudia Riumallo

Claudia Riumallo is an Academic Adviser, who joined OMAS in July, 2008. She assists students with a wide-range of academic and student support as they work toward their educational goals. Claudia enjoys working with students to develop individualized plans that highlight the person as a whole while creating an inclusive, trusting and inviting environment.

Claudia was born in Santiago, Chile. As a child she grew up in the United States, while her father attended M.I.T. Her family decided to return to Chile, where Claudia completed her High School and continued with higher education.

Claudia has an academic background in education, as a teacher of English as a Second language; dance and in holistic therapies. She is bicultural and bilingual; she considers both English and Spanish as her native languages. In Chile, Claudia taught ESL for the University of Chile and held a Holistic Therapy office.

In 2002, joined by her husband and three children, Claudia returned to the United States and establish residency in Eugene. She has worked for various non –profit organizations in the community, as a teacher interventionist and teaching English to the Latino community. Claudia has also worked for Lane Community College as an academic advisor in the TRIO program and for the Women Center. She believes that education is everyone’s right and is passionate about supporting students’ desires to claim their opportunity.
