UNDERGRADUATE SUPPORT PROGRAM (USP)

The Undergraduated Support Program (USP) is a special-admittance program awarded to a limited number of freshmen who show academic promise, even though their high school transcripts or SAT scores do not meet minimum admission requirements. Academic support is provided to USP students by the ALS and OMAS. All USP students are enrolled in a prescribed set of classes, Models for Academic Performance and Success (MAPS) and receive frequent contact with a small team of support staff from the three campus offices. MAPS is a learning community and curriculum for students admitted through USP. MAPS fulfills some key general-education requirements and provides an introduction to university studies. All USP students work closely with an advisor on class scheduling, financial aid issues, housing issues, tutoring assistance, etc. USP is a year-long program.
