- Lingo: The Voice of Northwest Language Teachers -
Lingo, the PNCFL newsletter, is designed for PNCFL members and language professionals in the Pacific Northwest. Lingo is published three times a year at the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) at the University of Oregon. The Lingo staff welcome short articles, descriptions of innovative courses, reviews of teaching materials, technology reports, and other items of interest to members of the language teaching profession. Submissions should be sent to the editor.
- PAWS: We Lend a Hand -
The Professional Assistance Workshops (PAWS) program is a service that PNCFL offers to state organizations and their members. The PAWS program provides a list of PNCFL-sponsored professional development workshops for language teachers. This service is intended to assist member states in identifying and bringing regional speakers to their members at a reasonable cost.
PNCFL provides each state organization access to an annual stipend to be used to pay travel expenses and/or fees connected with a PAWS presentation. To nominate a presenter as a PAWS speaker or to request additional information, please email the PNCFL office.
- State Conferences -
PNCFL members can attend the conference of any regional state's conference at membership rates. The six PNCFL member states have made this agreement in order to encourage communication and networking in the region.

- Western Initiative for Language Leadership -
PNCFL and the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) have collaborated to bring a premier professional development opportunity, the Western Initiative for Language Leadership (WILL), to rural second language teachers in the Pacific Northwest. Over the course of two summers, participants develop both action research and leadership projects. Results from these projects are shared at state conferences, and past participants are invited to serve as mentors to the next group of teachers.
- Professional Development Awards -
PNCFL presents three awards to outstanding professionals in language education. State organizations are encouraged to nominate members for these awards, which include the PNCFL Outstanding Contribution to the Teaching of World Languages in the Pacific Northwest, the Ray Verzasconi Northwest Postsecondary Teacher of the Year, and the PNCFL K-12 Teacher of the Year.
