Resource Conservation & Energy

The University of Oregon is committed to implementing resource conservation opportunities for all campus users and operations. This is occurring in all areas of campus operations. Facilities Services employs an Energy Specialist (541-346-2293) who evaluates existing systems, makes recommendations on maintenance and new projects to save energy and water resources. Facilities created a Resource Conservation team to work on many aspects of this issue from large systems to user practices and purchases.

The Team consists of the Energy Specialist, Facilities Business Manager, Power Plant Manager, Heating/Cooling Manager and the Recycling Manager (to work on user behavior and education). The team is currently working on maintenance projects, making recommendations for implementation of the Sustainable Development Guidelines, partnerships for larger projects and user education. The Facilities Purchasing Manager is indirectly involved in finding environmentally preferable purchasing opportunities which will result in overall resource conservation on campus.
